The Royal Bank of Canada Festival of New Works
Approximate running time: 2 hours
1701 Elgin Road
Victoria BC V8R 5L7
Join us for a provocative and engaging showcase of new artistic works from a variety of disciplines including music, dance, and theatre.
The festival offers our Year II Performing Arts Diploma and Certificate students an opportunity to create, direct, and/or develop a piece from an inspiration to a staged performance. Mentored by esteemed faculty and leading a cast of their peers, you have the chance to see new Canadian work at its early stages!
Performances will begin at 7:30pm on March 9 and 10. Following each performance there will be a facilitated conversation with the emerging creators where audience members will be given a chance to get insight into their creative process and what inspired the new work.
Tickets are available by donation. Donations will be accepted both online when booking tickets and after the performance through the Box Office staff on a “pay what you can” scale. Minimum suggested donation is $10.
We do not have phyisical tickets for this show. Simply state your name to our box office staff upon arrival and they will check you off our guest list.
"About the Festival" The two-day festival is the culmination of the Year II mentorship program. Students apply for this extra-curricular with a project proposal. Each student is then paired with a faculty member to guide them through their artistic creation project, from preparation to incubation to final presentation. It’s a unique opportunity for students to take on a leadership role by guiding their peers in a field or discipline of their choice.
